For setting up Hybrid environment for your mail services, follow below steps:
1. Complete Domain provisioning and create mail id’s which you want to run on Office 365.
E.g. user3@domain.com
2. Same mail id should be created under hosting mail server.
E.g. user1@domain.com [Created on hosting server]
user2@domain.com [Created on hosting server]
user3@domain.com [Created on hosting server and Office 365 both.]
3. MX priority should be high for Office 365 Mail server.
4. Create connector which will redirect emails from Office 365 to your hosting mail server, if recipient doesn’t exist on Office365 server.
5. Add contacts in your Office365 for mail id’s which are created on hosting server.
6. Create mail flow rule.
7. In hosting server mail id : user3@domain.com you have to set forwarding so emails will be forward to Office365 mail server.
