Choice of the right web hosting control panel can make a big difference in managing websites, servers, and hosting costs. For most businesses, Plesk licences are a strong alternative to cPanel in 2026.
Plesk Obsidian supports both Linux and Windows servers, and the Plesk Web Host edition supports unlimited domains for approximately ₹3,008 per month. In comparison, cPanel Premier costs US$76.99 (around ₹7,277) per month for up to 100 accounts at its 2027 list price, which takes effect on 16 December 2026.
India’s web hosting market reached an estimated US$12.3 billion in 2025 and is projected to grow at a CAGR of 11.48% through 2034, according to IMARC Group.
In India, ZNetLive offers Plesk licences with billing in Indian rupees. Prices start at ₹808 per month for Plesk Web Admin on an annual plan, or ₹1,270 with monthly billing. You can purchase a licence for your VPS or dedicated server through ZNetLive.
Is Plesk Better Than cPanel in 2026?
Plesk is better if you need Windows support, unlimited sites per licence or a lower bill. cPanel is better if your team already runs Linux shared hosting on cPanel and WHM.
Feature Comparison: Plesk Obsidian vs cPanel & WHM
Both control panels are owned by WebPros and cover the basics: websites, email, DNS, databases, SSL and backups. The real differences are operating system support, how the licence is counted and the price.
| Feature | Plesk Obsidian | cPanel & WHM |
| Operating systems | Linux and Windows Server | Linux only |
| Licence counted by | Websites per server (10, 30 or unlimited) | cPanel accounts per server (1 to 100, then per account) |
| Lowest 2027 list price | US$18.99/month (Plesk Web Admin) | US$32.99/month (cPanel Solo, 1 account) |
| Unlimited sites | Plesk Web Host edition | Not offered; US$0.55 per account above 100 |
| WordPress management | WordPress Toolkit included | WordPress Toolkit included |
| Interface | One panel for admins, resellers and site owners | Separate WHM (admin) and cPanel (user) interfaces |
| Extensions | Plesk Extensions catalogue, including Docker and Git | cPanel plugins and third-party installers such as Softaculous |
When Plesk Costs Less
Plesk usually costs less once a server hosts more than a handful of websites. For a server hosting more than five client websites, Plesk Web Pro or Plesk Web Host usually costs less than the matching cPanel tier, because Plesk counts websites in larger bundles and offers an unlimited-domain edition.
What Is the Market Share of Plesk vs cPanel?
Plesk is the most widely detected web panel on public websites. According to W3Techs data from 30 May 2026, Plesk accounts for 43.9% of websites with a detectable web panel, while cPanel accounts for 2.1%.
Why Market Share Figures Differ
Market share figures depend on what a survey can measure. W3Techs only detects control panels that are visible on public websites, for example through a panel login page or server headers. Most cPanel servers do not expose the panel on the websites they host, so cPanel’s real share among hosting servers is higher than the W3Techs figure suggests.
Why Has cPanel Become So Expensive, and Is Plesk Cheaper?
cPanel became expensive after it moved from a flat licence to per-account pricing in 2019 and then raised prices almost every year. Plesk is cheaper for most servers, because Plesk charges by website count and offers an unlimited-domain edition.
How cPanel Pricing Changed After 2019
Before June 2019, cPanel sold its licences for a flat monthly fee with unlimited accounts. Oakley Capital acquired cPanel in 2018, and in 2019 cPanel switched to tiers based on the number of accounts. Plesk is part of the same group under WebPros.
cPanel Prices for 2027
On 8 October 2026, cPanel announced its 2027 prices, effective 16 December 2026 for new and existing licences:
| cPanel tier | Accounts | 2026 price (US$/month) | 2027 price (US$/month) | Approx. 2027 price (₹/month) |
| cPanel Solo | 1 | 29.99 | 32.99 | 3,118 |
| cPanel Admin | Up to 5 | 35.99 | 38.99 | 3,686 |
| cPanel Pro | Up to 30 | 53.99 | 58.99 | 5,576 |
| cPanel Premier | Up to 100 | 69.99 | 76.99 | 7,277 |
| Each account above 100 | 1 | 0.49 | 0.55 | 52 |
How Much Can You Save with Plesk?
Plesk list prices also rise on 1 January 2027, for example Plesk Web Admin from US$16.99 to US$18.99 a month. Even so, ZNetLive’s Plesk Web Pro licence at ₹1,475 a month for 30 websites costs less than half of cPanel Pro at about ₹5,576 for 30 accounts.
Here is what that means over a year. An agency hosting 25 client websites pays ₹17,700 a year for Plesk Web Pro on ZNetLive’s 1-year plan (₹1,475 × 12). The same agency would pay US$707.88, or about ₹66,909, for cPanel Pro at 2027 list prices. That is a saving of roughly ₹49,000 a year before GST.
These savings compare ZNetLive’s Plesk price with cPanel’s list price. cPanel partners may offer discounts, so the actual difference can be smaller.
INR figures for cPanel convert US list prices at ₹94.52 per US$ (16 October 2026) and exclude 18% GST. Sources: webhosting.today report on 2027 cPanel, Plesk and WHMCS price increases and ServerPoint history of cPanel price increases.

Is Plesk a Good cPanel Alternative?
Yes. Plesk is the most direct cPanel alternative because it covers the same hosting tasks and also runs on Windows Server. Agencies, developers, and hosting providers can move to Plesk without losing core features. Plesk suits three common cases.
1. Windows Hosting
Plesk is the natural choice for Windows hosting, because cPanel does not run on Windows. Plesk Obsidian manages IIS, ASP.NET and Microsoft SQL Server sites from the same panel used on Linux.
2. Agencies Managing Many Sites
Agencies benefit from Plesk’s website-based licensing. Plesk Web Pro covers 30 websites, and Plesk Web Host covers unlimited domains, so adding a client does not raise the licence cost.
3. WordPress-Heavy Servers
Plesk works well for servers that run mostly WordPress sites. WordPress Toolkit in Plesk handles installs, updates, staging and cloning for every site on the server.
4. When cPanel Is Still the Better Fit
cPanel can still be the better fit if your support team and scripts are built around cPanel and WHM, or if you host only one or two accounts. For everyone else, the yearly cPanel price increases make Plesk worth testing on a new VPS first.
How Do You Move from cPanel to Plesk?
You move from cPanel to Plesk with the free Plesk Migrator extension, which copies websites, databases, mail and DNS from a cPanel server. Most moves take a few hours of setup plus the data transfer time.
Steps to Migrate with Plesk Migrator
Plesk Migrator handles most of the work once your new server is ready. Follow these steps:
- Buy a Plesk licence from ZNetLive and install Plesk Obsidian on a new VPS or dedicated server.
- Install the Plesk Migrator extension from the Plesk Extensions catalogue.
- Enter the cPanel server’s IP address and root login in Plesk Migrator, then choose the accounts to move.
- Run the migration and check the report for any websites, mailboxes, or databases that need attention.
- Test each website on the new server using a hosts-file entry or a temporary URL.
Switching DNS and Cancelling cPanel
After testing, switch traffic to the new server and only then retire the old one.
- Lower the DNS TTL a day before, then point your domains to the new Plesk server.
- Keep the cPanel licence active for a few days, then cancel it once mail and traffic have fully switched.

Final Verdict: Plesk or cPanel?
Plesk and cPanel both provide the core tools needed to manage websites, databases, email and server settings. The right choice depends on your operating system, the number of websites you host, and your licensing budget.
Plesk is worth considering if you manage multiple websites, need Windows Server support or want more predictable licensing costs. cPanel remains a practical choice for teams already using cPanel and WHM or hosting a small number of accounts.
For businesses in India, ZNetLive offers Plesk licences with INR billing and options for VPS and dedicated servers. Compare the available editions and billing plans to find the right fit for your hosting requirements.

I rather prefer cPanel myself. When Plesk breaks, it really breaks. CPanel has started offering Git and integrates nicely with CSF/LFD. They aren’t focusing on adapting to many OSs but rather are conquering one. CPanel also offers more in terms of APIs so I can work via ssh with the panel all day if I want. CPanel also offers way more consistency between upgrades. With Plesk, you really have no idea what to expect with each upgrade. Version changes may as well be complete panel changes. Being consistent while adapting and innovating is definitely where CPanel shines over Plesk. CPanel support is far, far better., too. Just look at their forums versus those for Plesk.
